Some shops and shopping centers offer a rebate tax ( "VAT", the equivalent of VAT) tourists (7% of the price).
The rebate is redeemable at the airport before boarding.

silk Silk is one of the great bargains in Thailand. Available in many shops throughout the capital and in various colors, take care to buy natural silk. The articles being marked "Thai silk" and sometimes being cheap synthetic fabric. Jim Thompson, the legendary American who helped make the recognized Thai silk, which mysteriously disappeared in Malaysia in the late 1960s, left Jim Thompson heritage in its shops, still as popular today. the sarongs
the Batiks, originally from Indonesia, are now used on beaches as sarongs and manufactured in Thailand. They are recognizable by their shimmering shades and exotic designs. The manufacturing method uses wax to create the designs. The fabric is then dipped in different dyes, and the wax is removed with boiling water, leaving uncolored lines forming the clear reasons. It can be purchased in larger centers (MBK, Emporium, Gaysorn) and market, or price will often be more interesting (Chatuchak market).

There is a possibility to buy precious or semi-precious cut, at lower costs than in Europe, given the cheaper labor. Beware of scams however, this seems to be too good a deal is probably not a (ignore canvassing taxi drivers or tuk-tuk offering you bring to do business among jewelers). There is little risk however in large signs.
Gold and Silver
Gold in Thailand is 22 karat often see pure (24 karat). Yellow color and deformable as unalloyed, it is not necessarily the taste of all Western. Jewelry is however good finish, and the choice is vast. There are many gold shops along Yaowarat Road (Chinatown).
